The most requested conversion, and it works with almost any system that rejects WebP. Careful if your WebP had transparency: JPEG does not support it and the background will be filled with a solid colour.
The right choice for logos, icons and cut-outs. If your WebP was lossless the conversion is exact; if it was lossy, the PNG freezes those pixels as they are without losing anything further.
Makes sense if you are still publishing on the web and want the smallest file. Remember that re-encoding a lossy WebP adds degradation: use a high quality setting.

Because it is a relatively recent format and support outside the browser arrived late and unevenly. Many desktop editors, viewers built into corporate systems and print templates only handle JPG, PNG and TIFF. Converting to JPG or PNG is the direct fix.
If your WebP was lossy, yes: a second lossy compression is applied on top of an already compressed image. At a high quality setting the difference is usually imperceptible. If the WebP was lossless, the only loss is the one JPEG introduces.
Yes, completely. Both formats handle 8-bit alpha with 256 levels of opacity, so soft edges survive exactly as they were. It is the right conversion for logos.
You cannot tell from the extension or by looking. A practical hint: WebP files downloaded from websites are usually lossy (that is what optimises weight), while ones exported from an editor for logos and icons are usually lossless. When in doubt, convert to PNG and you will lose nothing extra.
Yes, as long as the destination supports animation. If you pick a still image format you will only get one frame. Bear in mind GIF is limited to 256 colours, so an animation with subtle shading will lose colour richness.
Only if you are staying in a web context and size matters a lot to you. AVIF usually produces smaller files at comparable quality, but support is somewhat narrower and encoding is slower. If your problem was compatibility, AVIF does not solve it — go to JPG or PNG.
